TO THE BABY IN THE STROLLER

I count the stars burning into bright plum jewels.

It is all new so
Suckle fiercely
Before you are asked to crawl
Before you are tasked with
Walking upright for your meals
Before you are forced to kneel
For deliverance and a
Black pearl becomes your heart.
