Immigrant coversations

I wanted so much for my kitchen to smell like my mother’s kitchen. And on Sundays to smell of my father’s home - of Frankincense and cigarettes.

Biting his teeth into a wet, silver, midnight moon he says:

Tuesday was invented by an Armenian.

He says:

Before, well before, it went from Monday to Wednesday and so on and so on. Things made little sense until Tuesdays.

I would have made a wonderful Frenchman! A far better Frenchman than an American! I tell my mother.

Ah, yes. This is true. Look at Aznavour. He is on stamps. Also, Americans cannot chew. I am reminded of this every time I watch you eat and for a fraction of a second, I admit, my heart breaks for you and regret takes hold, but then I recall the titan- Rockefeller. And I am again stoic in our decision to choose this continent over another.
